A 54 Year Wait
Johnny tried for over 50 years to convince radio stations to play “Christmas is Here,” but seldom had any luck. On December 4th, 2019 “Christmas is Here” was played for the first time on commercial radio during the Roula and Ryan Show on 104.1 KRBE in Houston, TX.
National Attention
The local ABC affiliate in Houston, ABC 13 KTRK, was at the 104.1 KRBE studio to cover the first time “Christmas is Here” was played on commercial radio. Their stories of Johnny’s wish coming true caught the attention of Inside Edition. They quickly sent a film crew to Johnny’s house to interview him and his family. Soon other national television and online news affiliates started covering the story of Johnny’s song finally getting airplay after 54 years.
